PANCAKES in PAJAMAS


We started our focus on the letters of the alphabet! We had so much fun with "Ms. P" with her "Pointy Patches!" We wore our pajamas to school! We read a story about a boy who had to help his mom make the pancakes! He chose to have strawberry jam on his pancakes! We all worked together to make pancakes! We all had a chance to stir the batter!
We watched the pancakes cook! 
Then we had to decide what we wanted on our pancakes, syrup or strawberry jam! The best part of making pancakes?? Eating them, of course! Delicious!!

We have been reviewing colors! To help review red, we read a story about Cliffird the Big Red Dog! We made Clifford ears!

NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Welcome to a new year of TK!! I am so excited to start a new school year with your child!! Whenever a new year starts, there is so much information to share. Here are just a few important things to know about. ARRIVAL The time before school starts is very important for preparation time to get ready for the day. If your child arrives at school before 8:15, please have them go to the lunch room to wait for the school start bell. When the bell rings, they will be dismissed from the lunch room to come to our classroom. FOLDERS Your child will bring his/her folder home each day. I ask that they bring it to school with them each day. It is a great way to make sure that important notes make it to school or make it home. In your child’s folder will be a behavior calendar. If your child keeps his/her smile all day, they will get a sticker. Please sign the calendar each day so I know that you talked to your child about their school day and return it back to school in their folder! BIRTHDAYS Birthdays are a very special event in TK. Your child is welcome to bring a birthday snack for his/her birthday to share in class, or for the children to take home. We encourage healthy snacks. Please no pop! If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate his/her half birthday. June birthdays will be celebrated in December; July birthdays will be celebrated in January; and August birthdays will be celebrated in February. LOCKERS We are so excited to have lockers this year! Each child will have a locker in the hallway with their name on it. It will hold all of their coats, caps, mittens, boots, snowpants, etc. I would like my TKers to hang their backpacks on their hook in the classroom. It will make it easier for us to pack backpacks at the end of each day. NOTES/APPOINTMENTS A note MUST be sent to school with your child anytime there is a change in your child’s way of getting home. If your child is to ride a different bus, your child will need a bus pass to get on that bus. A note is needed to get the pass. Also, if your child has an appointment and needs to leave during the school hours, please send a note with your child to notify the teacher. Your child will then need to be checked out/in at the office. SPECIALS Our TK class will have the chance to have four “specials” during the week. This is a chance to get the kids involved with activities outside the classroom. Here is our “Specials” schedule. *Music: Monday – 9:30 to 10:00 with Mr. Mauldin *TAG: Monday – 10:40 to 11:10 with Ms. West *Library: Tuesday – 10:25 to 10:55 with Mrs. Storm *Physical Education (P.E.): Tuesday – 1:10 to 1:40 with Mr. Luenberger *Music: Thursday – 8:35 to 9:05 with Mr. Mauldin *Physical Education (P.E.): Thursday – 1:10 to 1:40 with Mr. Luenberger ReSICK CHILDREN PLEASE do not send a sick child to school! A child needs to be fever free for 24 hours! CLOTHING ATTIRE Please make sure you check out the school handbook and policies. Shorts may be worn August through October and April and May. We do go outside three times a day, so it is very important that they have appropriate dress. We do not allow flip flops and sandals as children hurt their feet while running and playing. No cleats or roller shoes are allowed in the building. Spaghetti strap or halter type tops are not allowed to be worn to school. Also, clothing that advertise alcohol, tobacco or other drugs are prohibited. CHRISTMAS PARTY

The day of our Christmas Party finally arrived! Our classroom was filled with so much excitement! We started the day with going over to the high school auditorium to watch a movie - "Inside Out!" Sitting in the auditorium was just like watching it in a movie theater! After lunch, we had our gift exchange. We started out by playing a game to help us decide how to exchange our books. We all got some great books to read!
I gave them a gift! They were so excited to open another present! They were so happy to get a new puzzle and a book!
We had a delicious snack that was provided by our Christmas Party Committee! Thanks so much! What a great day!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

DECORATING CHRISTMAS COOKIES

What a great time we had decorating Christmas cookies with the Kindergarten Classes! We all got a cookie. We frosted our cookie. Then we got to put sprinkles on it. Some of us really like sprinkles! We had some great special helpers to help us! Thanks to the high school Child Development Class who came over. Also thanks to Regan's Grandma, Harper's Mom, and Harper and Noah's Grandpa and Grandma for their help! The best part of decorating cookies?? Eating them of course!!
What a fun afternoon!!

HANDWASHING

We were so lucky to have the school nurse, Mel De Jong, come and show us the right way to wash our hands. She gave us "pretend" germs. We then went to the sink and washed those "pretend" germs off. She used a special light to help us see where the germs hide. We decided that the amount of time we need to wash is the time it takes to sing the "ABC" song. Now that we all know how to wash those germs away, we will be a healthy TK class!
